About Emily Cook, BSW,RSW
Hey there! I’m Emily (she/her; I’m a Newfie at heart).
I’m here to help you navigate life’s ups and downs.
Opening up about personal struggles isn’t easy, which is why I prioritize your having a space where you feel comfortable being yourself — with no judgment, just understanding. Whether you’re dealing with addiction, an eating disorder, anxiety, or navigating life’s challenges, I want therapy to be somewhere you feel safe and supported.
It can be intimidating to start therapy, so I work hard to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where you can open up at your own pace. I believe we all deserve to be heard and that it’s my job to help you take charge of your healing journey. This is your journey; I’m here as your partner in crime.
I work with young adults, adolescents and individuals dealing with eating disorders, addiction, and mood and anxiety challenges. I like helping people through the tough stuff — from trauma to life transitions. I tailor my approach to each person’s unique circumstances.
My style is flexible, drawing on different therapeutic techniques like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I also love running group sessions. Group therapy is a wonderful place to build real-life skills, like managing stress, setting healthy boundaries, and coping with cravings and triggers.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can usually find me sipping a coffee, exploring new coffee shops, or practicing yoga. These are some of the ways I stay grounded. I firmly believe in work-life balance. It’s important to take care of oneself, inside and out.
Did I mention that I’m a proud Newfie? Folks get surprised by my accent. I’m not from Texas though. Just a Newfie who moved to the mainland.
Whether you’re here for therapy or just looking for a safe space to talk, I’ve got you.
My first language is English. I’m proud to work with individuals from all walks of life, appreciating the richness of different backgrounds and experiences.
Reach out anytime — I’d love to hear from you and see how I can support you in your journey!
Curious about what it’s like to work with me? I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. To book your New Client Consult, email me or book online.
To sweeten the deal, I’m offering psychotherapy at a much discounted rate than my colleagues at Midtown. This is because I’m an Associate Therapist. A little about my credentials: I’m a Registered Social Worker (RSW), with a Bachelor of Social Work from Memorial University of Newfoundland. I am a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, OCSWSSW. I’m currently working toward my Master of Social Work at the University of Windsor, graduating in January 2026. After that, there’ll be more - I love learning and growing my clinical skills.
