About Brian Beatty,OT(Reg.) Ont

Hello! My name is Brian.

I’m an attentive listener and skilled provider of rehabilitation services. I’m registered with the Ontario College of Occupational Therapist and have extensive experience treating people in complex recovery.

I enjoy helping people recovering from accidents and other injuries, surgeries, orthopedic problems, brain injuries, and/or mental health conditions.

I speak English and am pleased to also work with language interpreters.

My goal is to assist you in your recovery and return to meaningful activity.

I’m great at hospital discharge planning, and assessment and treatment related to home, community, workplace, and school functioning. I provide equipment recommendations and client-friendly activities to help you maximize your participation in tasks that are important to you. In short, my job is to partner you toward your rehabilitation goals.

My clinical practice is grounded in clear communication, practical problem-solving, and collaborative care. I work closely with clients, families, treatment teams, and legal stakeholders to support recovery trajectories that are practical, evidence-based, and focused on long-term functional outcomes.

Personally, I love learning, exploring the outdoors, taking care of and challenging my body and mind, and hanging with friends and family.

The fine print for those interested: I have an undergraduate degree in Biology, a masters degree in Occupational Therapy (2000), and have completed post – graduate education in ergonomics and postural alignment, cognitive assessment and rehabilitation, concussion treatment, and pain management.

I worked in acute care hospital settings for over twenty years. This included comprehensive assessment of functional mobility, transfers, activities of daily living, cognition, seating and positioning, adaptive equipment needs, and overall safety for discharge and community reintegration. My hospital experience acts as a strong foundation for managing complex medical and functional presentations with a high level of clinical reasoning and risk awareness.

Today, my work focuses on the evaluation and treatment of individuals with complex injuries and disabilities, whether from motor vehicle accidents or otherwise. I emphasize restoring function, reducing physical and cognitive strain, and supporting clients to safely resume meaningful life roles.

I take a whole-person approach, recognizing that psycho emotional well-being plays a critical role in motivation, therapeutic engagement, and recovery. Toward this purpose, sessions incorporate body-based strategies such as breathing, posture, movement and tone of voice, to support greater client readiness to participate in daily activities, therapeutic exercises, and the recovery process overall.

Two recent areas of specialization: I’m a certified Postural Alignment Specialist (The Egoscue Institute). This enables me to identify and address underlying musculoskeletal imbalances that contribute to chronic pain and functional inefficiency. I’m also working toward certification as a Brain Gym Movement Facilitator to further support individuals with traumatic brain injury by promoting improved regulation, attention, coordination, and functional carryover.

Is there something else you’d like to know about me? Just ask.

I look forward to getting to know you.
