About Tamara Amirault, MSW (candidate)
Hey there! I’m Tamara. I’m an Associate Therapist at Midtown.
The only way out is through - Kristin Neff
Creating a safe environment is vital to the healing process. I value using compassion to soften the journey through your hard memories and feelings. Your wellbeing and sense of growth are important goals to explore and integrate.
It’s an honour to support people at different life stages, including children and adults, and from various walks of life. Most of my clients start counselling to help them through a difficult time.
Much of my experience has been working with those who have experienced unkind life events and different forms of domestic violence and/or other traumatic experiences. I am passionate about the important, collaborative work of helping you thrive no matter what soil you find yourself planted in.
I use evidence-based tools like Solution-Focused Therapy, SFT and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT). I aso incorporate Attachment Theory, various cognitive modalities, and psychoeducation.
I’m keen to explore what resonates best with you.
I have my Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and have recently completed my Masters of Social Work degree with the University of Windsor.
As a new grad, I’ll be offering Associate Therapist Services at Midtown Counselling for the first while. To account for having fewer years of experience than other Midtown Therapists, Associates charge a much discounted rate: $100/session. I’m so pleased to provide this affordable service option while I grow my professional experience.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with family and listening to fun music while I walk, skate, or swim. I like trying new activities with old friends and sharing learning experiences with everyone. I don’t like to cook, but am happy to wash the dishes.
I’m proud to have served Kitchener-Waterloo for many years through volunteering and working in a variety of community services.

A little about my credentials: I’ve recently completed my graduate studies, including all the internship requirements, and will be granted my official Master of Social Work degree (MSW) very shortly. I anticipate registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, OCSWSSW (RSW) within the year. I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals, OAMHP
